Arcadia Mill Visitors Center/Museum Addition and Renovation

Milton, Florida | 2,300 sf | $125k

GCAG provided design and construction documents for the renovation and addition to the Visitors Center at Arcadia Mill. Arcadia Mill is a facility owned by West Florida Historic Preservation, Inc. and the University of West Florida which provides educational opportunities related to the history of the logging industry. The original 1,400 sf facility, constructed in 1992, was built on the mill site. The renovation modernizes the existing space, including new windows and doors. The expansion includes new offices, a classroom and expanded exhibit space. The entire facility is ADA accessible and meets all current building codes.

The exterior of the facility was carefully designed to blend with the historic character of the surrounding buildings. GCAG worked closely with a lighting consultant hired by the University of West Florida to ensure that the exhibit space is flexible and meets the needs of a variety of exhibit types. Classrooms include updated audiovisual equipment.

GCAG has a strong history with UWF and Arcadia Mill. In 2006, GCAG conducted a site review and created a recommended design to expand and upgrade the boardwalks throughout the property.
