Fuze Experimentation and Industrial Facility

Eglin AFB, Florida | 10,100 sf | $3.1m

GCAG prepared the design for the Fuze Experimentation Facility and Fuze Industrial Facility at Eglin Air Force Base. The Experimentation Facility will provide office, laboratory and industrial shop areas to support scientists, engineers, and technicians. These personnel are engaged in research, testing and evaluation for fuze (specialized detonators for explosives), characterization and phenomenology research. The Industrial Facility includes an open shop with wood and steel working equipment, welding, carpentry, shock dynamics lab, bridge crane and mezzanine areas.

Facility was designed to meet AT/FP requirements. Access control features were included. Complete SID and FF&E packages were produced. The site was environmentally sensitive and GCAG worked with Florida DEP to develop site alterations to accommodate wetlands. GCAG provided engineering coordination for all disciplines. MCACES cost estimates were produced. The facility was designed to LEED Silver Standards.

ACASS Rating: Very Good.

GCAG was professional, worked well and coordinated well together as a team… Very good at identifying potential issues and incorporating info design package.”
