Repair MacDonough Hall Building 102, US Naval Academy

PRIME provided architectural design services for modifications and repair to the interior and exterior of historic MacDonough Hall at the US Naval Academy. MacDonough Hall is a 128,000 SF multi-story building built in 1903 and currently houses general physical education functions, several varsity team sports and a natatorium in support of the USNA mission. A roof and envelope investigation was performed. The exterior repair scope was coordinated with the projects Historic Preservationist.

Additional scope included architectural design for interior modifications and to support mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and life safety upgrades. The scope included adding insulation at the roof and perimeter.

Envelope repairs included replacing internal gutters, copper roof, flashing, and cladding repairs, mortar repairs, window repairs and replacement. The 9,800 SF insulated fiberglass skylight is being replaced. ATFP window replacement included custom fabricated windows to reflect the historic nature of the original design.
